River gum bark, Carnarvon, Western Australia
The river bed was empty
where rain had once been
when I crossed the dust
so my fingers could trace a memory
on your painted skin
And like the welcomed rain in drought
that perfumes the air we breathe
I wrapped my arms around you
whispered into a breeze
remember me always
and you did.

What a majestic poem. I adored the ibis with her young as well. Wonderful post.
